JCB Telehandler DPF regen tutorial
Many problems that our customers encounter can be resolved without an engineer, one such issue is a Diesel particulate filter (DPF) that needs a regen.
JCB Telehandler DPF
A DPF is a filter inside the exhaust of diesel machines that is designed to protect you and people on site from harmful particulates that could be easily breathed in. These particles can build up inside the filter and sometimes needs to be ‘cleaned’. Machines equipped with a DPF can often clean themselves without operator intervention. However, occasionally the operator will need to perform a manual DPF regen using the control unit. To perform a regen of the DPF the process is fairly simple:
- The machine will let you know that a regen is required by displaying the DPF regen symbol in the display
- Press and hold the ‘i’ button until the regen symbol disappears
- Press the ‘i’ button several times to cycle through the options until you reach the regen function
- Press and hold the ‘i’ button to select DPF regen – You will be see a list of different symbols with either ticks or crosses by them. You need all symbols to have a green tick to start a regen.
- If all requirements are met you can press and hold the ‘i’ button to start the regen. The machine will display a flashing regen symbol and revs will increase.
- Leave the machine alone until regen is completed, it can take up to 45 minutes.
