Introducing Our New Komatsu PC138 excavators with Human Form Recognition

At Ridgway Rentals, safety and efficiency are at the core of everything we do. That’s why we’re excited to introduce our latest addition to our fleet — the Komatsu PC138 — now equipped with Human Form Recognition (HFR).

What Is Human Form Recognition?

HFR technology enhances worksite safety by using advanced AI to detect human figures in real time. Unlike traditional proximity sensors, which may struggle with identifying people versus objects, this system specifically recognises workers, ensuring that operators are alerted to potential hazards before an accident can occur.

The system incorporates an audible warning for the operator and people on site to ‘move away’ if they stray too close to an operational machine. It also includes a ‘thumbs up’ lighting system that informs site staff that it is safe to approach the machine.
