Coronavirus Testing For Construction WorkersPosted Thursday May 7th 2020
At Ridgway, we think the many construction workers who continue to work hard every day have been the unsung heroes during this lockdown.
Ridgway welcomes the decision to include construction workers for testing!
We welcome the decision by the UK Government to include all construction workers into the testing program.
This will enable all trades to carry on working and only self-isolating when necessary – allowing construction work to continue. This is particularly important for the construction industry now as many sites are re-opening where social distancing can be maintained.
Coronavirus Testing For Construction Workers
Matt Hancock (secretary of state for health and social care) said: “Any worker who needs to leave their home in order to go to work, and their households, if any of them have symptoms can also get a test. This means construction workers to emergency plumbers, research scientists to those in manufacturing”
More than 40 drive through test centres are now open across the country with an aim for 158 by the end of next week. Home testing kits will also become available soon for those not able to travel to a test centre.
You can apply online with either a self-referral or employer-referral
So keep up the great work you are doing if you can BUT stay isolated if you have covid symptoms and get tested as soon as possible!
