The Komatsu WA470 features advanced engine technology designed to deliver strong performance while improving fuel efficiency and reducing operating costs. The powerful, low-emission Komatsu engine works together with the machine’s intelligent drivetrain and hydraulic systems to provide the power required for demanding loading and carrying applications.
Komatsu SmartLoader Logic
Komatsu SmartLoader Logic automatically monitors the machine’s working conditions and adjusts engine torque to match the power required by the application. By intelligently controlling engine output, the system helps prevent unnecessary fuel consumption while still providing the performance required for digging, loading and travelling.
Faster Load & Carry
The WA470 is designed to deliver high productivity in load-and-carry and short-distance transport applications. Its sequential torque-converter lock-up system allows the operator to engage lock-up from 2nd through 4th gear, reducing power losses within the torque converter.
By transferring engine power more directly to the drivetrain, the system increases travel speed and provides greater tractive force, particularly when travelling uphill or carrying a full bucket. At the same time, reducing torque-converter losses helps lower fuel consumption.
More fuel-saving technology
The Komatsu WA470-8 is designed to provide high productivity while keeping fuel consumption low. It uses Komatsu SmartLoader Logic, which monitors the machine’s working conditions and automatically adjusts engine torque to match the workload. This means the engine does not produce unnecessary power during lighter operations, helping to reduce fuel consumption without affecting productivity.
Large-capacity torque converter with standard lock-up
The WA470-8 is fitted with a large-capacity torque converter with a standard lock-up system. The large torque converter provides strong pulling power at low speeds, which is useful when the loader is digging into dense materials such as aggregates.
The lock-up function operates in 2nd, 3rd and 4th gears, allowing engine power to be transferred more directly to the wheels. This improves acceleration and travel performance, particularly when carrying materials or travelling uphill.
High dump buckets
The Komatsu WA470-8 can be equipped for applications where a greater dumping height is required. This makes it suitable for loading high-sided trucks, hoppers and feeders.
The machine’s lifting system provides good dumping height and reach, allowing material to be placed into higher-sided vehicles and equipment efficiently. With the appropriate bucket configuration, the WA470-8 is well suited to applications such as quarrying, aggregate handling and recycling.
